112 Junior Police Officers Complete Tactical Combat Training in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has concluded a two-week intensive combat operations training program for 112 junior officers to bolster tactical capability and response readiness against security challenges across the state.
The graduation ceremony, held at the Police Training School in Ilorin, marked the completion of rigorous practical and theoretical coursework for 30 corporals and 82 constables. The curriculum focused on essential contemporary policing strategies, including tactical firearm handling, combat craft, rescue operations, rules of engagement, and counter-ambush techniques.
According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the initiative is part of an ongoing national capacity-building drive orchestrated by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu. The strategy aims to cultivate a highly professional, operationally effective, and combat-ready police force across Nigeria.
The state Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, attended the closing event alongside the command’s management team and various divisional police officers. Expressing satisfaction with the discipline and coordination shown by the participants, Ojo emphasized that continuous professional development is vital to modern, intelligence-led policing.
The commissioner charged the newly trained officers to immediately implement their advanced tactical skills in the field to elevate public safety and decisively combat crime within the state. Concluding the exercise, the command reiterated its long-term commitment to sustaining similar training initiatives to align local operations with global policing standards.
