115 Road Projects Ongoing As Kaduna Clears Pension Backlog

The Kaduna State Government says it has cleared about ₦18 billion in inherited pension and gratuity arrears, following increased allocations from the Federation Account.*
The disclosure was made on Sunday, 23 August 2026.
According to the government, the additional revenue has also enabled the state to intensify infrastructure development and significantly scale up funding for agriculture. Annual spending on agriculture rose from ₦1.4 billion in 2023 to more than ₦100 billion in 2026.
The state added that 115 road projects are currently ongoing across Kaduna’s 23 local government areas. More than half of the projects have been completed, covering over 1,400 kilometres of roads in both rural and urban communities.
The government said the pension payments form part of efforts by Governor Uba Sani’s administration to address financial obligations inherited from previous administrations, while also deploying increased federal allocations to fund development projects across the state.
Officials said the focus remains on clearing outstanding liabilities and investing in critical sectors to improve livelihoods and stimulate economic growth.
