2 Arrested For Theft Of Diesel In Ekiti

The Ekiti police command has anounced the arrest of two men for allegedly stealing diesel used for powering street lights in the state.
Sunday Abutu, the command’s spokesperson, in a statement on Wednesday said one of the suspects was arrested on Tuesday night by officers of the rapid response squad (RRS) in the state.
Abutu said the suspect was nabbed with a 25-litre jerry can containing diesel allegedly stolen along NTA road, Ado-Ekiti.
He added that the accused also confessed to having stolen the diesel from the government generator powering the street lights along the axis.
The police spokesperson further stated that the suspect mentioned the name of another person, who was subsequently arrested for his alleged involvement in the crime.
Abutu said that the two individuals would be arraigned in court soon.
He urged residents of the state to be security conscious and take ownership of government properties around them.
