2 Suspected Kidnappers Arrested, ₦34m Recovered In Adamawa

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Adamawa State Command, has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered ₦34 million in cash during an operation in the state.

The suspects, identified as 55-year-old Alhaji Jaye and 34-year-old Buba Bello, were arrested on September 6, 2026, following an operation by immigration officials.

During preliminary questioning, the suspects reportedly told immigration officials that the ₦34 million was intended to pay ransom for the release of Buba Bello’s brother.

The Comptroller-General of the NIS has directed that the suspects and the recovered money be handed over to the Adamawa State Police Command for further investigation and necessary action.

In a separate operation, immigration officers also intercepted 17 irregular migrants at Rumde Baru in Yola South Local Government Area after receiving credible intelligence.

The migrants were found in a private three-bedroom residence. Preliminary profiling showed that 13 were Cameroonian nationals, comprising eight males and five females, while the remaining four were Chadian nationals, all male.

The Adamawa Command said it would continue strengthening migration management, border security and territorial protection while urging its personnel to remain vigilant and provide timely intelligence on emerging security threats.
