2026: God says hunger will reduce, Japa will be reversed – Adeboye

Why I won’t endorse any presidential candidate, by Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has declared that 2026 will bring a noticeable reduction in hunger across Nigeria, alongside a reversal of the growing emigration trend popularly known as Japa.

Adeboye made the prophetic declarations during the 2025/2026 Crossover Service held at Redemption City, Ogun State, between December 31, 2025 and January 1, 2026, with the prophecies formally read out on Thursday morning.

Speaking on Nigeria’s outlook, the revered cleric said the country would witness a gradual easing of economic hardship, particularly food scarcity.

According to him, God revealed that hunger would reduce in 2026 as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) begin to thrive across the nation.

“There will be a reduction in hunger in Nigeria this year,” Adeboye said, adding that “God says Small and Medium Enterprises will begin to blossom.”

Beyond economic relief, the cleric pointed to what he described as a “reverse Japa”, predicting that Nigerians who had left the country in search of better opportunities abroad would begin to return home.

“He says something that I can only put down as a reverse Japa,” Adeboye stated, saying that “Many people who have Japa will come back home.”

The prophecy comes at a time when Nigeria has been grappling with rising living costs, food inflation and an unprecedented wave of emigration, especially among young professionals seeking improved living standards overseas.

On the broader outlook for 2026, Adeboye described the year as more remarkable than 2025, declaring that the “wind” that began blowing in 2024 would intensify.

He said the new year would usher in increased opportunities, more victories and successes, and fewer failures for individuals and nations.

“2026 will be more remarkable than 2025,” he said, adding that there would be “more opportunities this year than last year, more successes and more victories, with less failures.”

However, Adeboye disclosed that the prophecy concerning Nigeria was in two parts, explaining that he would withhold the second aspect until he had prayed further and received divine clearance to share it publicly.

On global affairs, the cleric offered cautious optimism, saying the likelihood of a major international war in 2026 would be lower than in the previous year.

He also noted that weather patterns would largely mirror those experienced in 2025.
