2027: Anambra CP Intensifies Security Preparations, Plans Refresher Course For Personnel

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections and finalised plans for a refresher course for police personnel and other security agencies.

CP Ama disclosed this on Sept. 25, 2026, after discussions with Civil Society Organisations on the training programme.

The course is designed to strengthen professional capacity and operational preparedness of security personnel on their roles before, during and after elections.

It will focus on professionalism, human rights, democratic policing, conflict prevention and management, crowd control, communication, community engagement and election security.

The CP said effective election security requires personnel who are operationally prepared and grounded in professionalism, neutrality, respect for fundamental rights and accountability, stressing the need for continuous training as early preparations begin.

In a related development, the Commissioner held a strategic meeting with senior management, Area Commanders and Tactical Commanders to review security situation across the state and assess operational readiness.

The meeting reviewed emerging threats, intelligence collection, visibility patrols, surveillance, rapid response, crime prevention and inter-agency collaboration.

CP Ama directed commanders to strengthen intelligence-led policing, improve collection and utilisation of actionable intelligence, sustain lawful patrols and ensure prompt response to distress calls.

He also directed them to maintain effective supervision and ensure personnel remain fully deployed.

The CP warned against extortion, corruption, human rights abuse, unlawful detention and harassment, charging commanders to enforce discipline and accountability.

He further directed deepened engagement with traditional rulers, town unions, youth organisations, civil society, religious bodies and community leaders, noting effective policing depends on public trust and partnerships.

He assured residents of sustained efforts to protect lives and property and maintain public order, reiterating commitment to professional, people-centred and intelligence-led policing ahead of the 2027 polls.
