2027: Obidient Movement Begins Early Mobilisation, Adopts ADC as Political Platform
Supporters of the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have commenced early grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, vowing to prevent a recurrence of the outcome of the last presidential poll.
The group, operating under the Obidient Movement, recently converged on Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as part of its nationwide drive to consolidate support. In a strategic shift, the movement is also channelling its energy into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a political platform for the next election cycle.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the National Coordinator of Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, disclosed that the group is strengthening its structures across wards and local government areas to ensure electoral victory.
“This is Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, as we continue to mobilise into the ADC. The strong words of His Excellency Peter Obi are very clear: we will not allow a repeat of what happened in the 2023 election,” Tanko said.
He issued a stern warning, adding, “In 2027, you will either count the votes correctly, or you will be counted. We must all be ready to defend our votes.”
Tanko called on supporters across the state to intensify political organisation at the grassroots level, urging them to move from passion to structured engagement.
“The time has come to move from passion to structure, from structure to strategy, and from strategy to victory,” he stated.
He emphasised that the movement remains committed to the vision of a new Nigeria built on discipline, competence, and accountability, and described Akwa Ibom as a crucial stronghold in that struggle.
Tanko further urged coordinators, volunteers, youth leaders, and women to begin organising ward meetings and strengthening polling unit structures in preparation for 2027.
“As we consolidate our political strength, we must strategically channel our collective energy into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as our vehicle for transformation and victory in 2027. This is not just a political alignment it is a strategic movement toward winning power to serve the people,” he explained.
He warned against complacency, stressing that victory would not come by wishful thinking but through disciplined and sustained mobilisation.
“Let no one sit on the sidelines. Let no one say, ‘My voice does not matter.’ When we move together, we are unstoppable. When we organise, we win. When we vote, we transform nations,” Tanko said.
Expressing confidence in the former Anambra State governor, Tanko declared that Peter Obi possesses the energy, integrity, and capacity to lead the nation and that the movement is determined to ensure his victory in 2027.
