25 Kidnap Victims Rescued in Joint Strikes Across North West

Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 25 kidnapped victims in separate operations on Wednesday, 3 September 2026.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 1 on night patrol along Kwanar Kura in Sabuwa LGA made contact with terrorists. Troops engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the criminals to flee into nearby bushes. Troops pursued and rescued two victims earlier abducted along the Dandume-Damari Road. Two motorcycles were also recovered.
In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 on a fighting patrol around Wuya Town in Anka LGA rescued 23 abducted civilians, including three males and 20 females. Preliminary debriefing showed the victims were abducted from Gummi LGA and had been in captivity for about three weeks.
All 25 rescued victims were evacuated for medical attention and further debriefing.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said the rescues reflect its resolve to protect lives, disrupt terrorist activities, and sustain offensive operations to deny criminals freedom of action across the North West.
