Ukraine Accuses Russia of Drone Attack on Turkish Vessel in Black Sea.
Ukraine has accused Russia of launching a drone strike on a Turkish vessel, ‘VIVA’, carrying sunflower oil in the Black Sea. The attack occurred in Ukraine’s exclusive economic zone, with the ship en route to Egypt. Fortunately, none of the 11 Turkish crew members were injured, and the vessel continued its journey.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, labeling it a “strike against food security” and vowing a response. He emphasized that targeting civilian ships is a direct challenge to the global community. The Ukrainian navy published a video showing the damaged vessel, with water on the deck and a suspected drone engine .
This incident is the second attack on a Turkish ship in as many days, following a Russian attack on a Turkish-owned ship at a Ukrainian port. The strike comes after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for a halt to attacks on ports and energy facilities during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
