NAPTIP returns 11 trafficking survivors to Jigawa Govt
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has handed over 11 victims of human trafficking to the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The victims, all males aged between 7 and 15, were rescued by NAPTIP operatives in Lokoja, Kogi State.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Dutse, Jigawa State capital, NAPTIP Commander Abdulkadir Turajo said the agency’s operatives rescued the victims from Lokoja. Turajo, represented by the command’s Head of Operations, Yunusa Mohammed, said the victims are from Tsaba, Kunkurawa, and Tsabare villages in Ringim Local Government Area.
The handover was facilitated by the Jigawa State Ministry for Local Government and Community Development. Turajo commended the Ringim Local Government Area and the state ministry for their prompt response, which enabled the swift reintegration of the victims with their families.
He reiterated NAPTIP’s commitment to combating human trafficking through victim identification, rescue, and reunification across the country. Receiving the rescued children, Ringim Local Government Chairman Badamasi Garba commended NAPTIP for its intervention. Garba, represented by the council’s Director of Personnel Management, Idana Isah, pledged the council’s commitment to the effective reintegration and rehabilitation of the children and to preventing future occurrences.
