Ekiti State Government Mediates in Community Crisis Over Deposed Monarch

The Ekiti State Government has intervened in the dispute in Epe-Ekiti, where the community deposed their traditional ruler, Oba Williams Adesoye.

Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, mediating the crisis, appealed to the aggrieved subjects to forgive the monarch and grant him a second chance. She directed the factions to resolve the matter within seven days at the palace of the paramount ruler of Ijero Kingdom, Oba Joseph Adewole.

The community, led by Chief Olajide Dada, accused Oba Adesoye of high-handedness and alienating his people. In response, the embattled monarch apologized and pledged to amend his ways.

Officials, including the local government chairman and the chieftaincy commissioner, urged for peace and warned that the crisis could derail the town’s development.
