Nigerian Musicians Seun Kuti and Mr. P Reconcile After 2023 Feud
Nigerian musicians Seun Kuti and Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P from the former duo P-Square, have publicly reconciled after a long-standing disagreement that began during the 2023 general election cycle.
The rift originated from their differing political views regarding the presidential candidacy of Peter Obi. The exchange grew heated on social media after Kuti described Obi as an “opportunist,” prompting Okoye to question Kuti’s musical relevance and achievements.
The reconciliation became apparent over the weekend when a video from a Lagos nightclub showed the two artists embracing and shaking hands warmly. In the clip, Kuti is heard stating, “We are artistes, we can’t be fighting over politicians,” a sentiment Okoye echoed as they made peace.
The video has since gone viral, signaling an end to the public dispute and a return to mutual respect between the two prominent figures in the Nigerian music industry.
