Gunmen Kill Police Officer, Abduct Chinese Expatriate in Oyo State Farm Attack

Gunmen have killed a police officer and abducted a Chinese expatriate during an attack on a farm in the Ogunmakin community near Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident occurred around 1 pm on Thursday at Aqua Triton Company when about ten armed men reportedly stormed the facility. The assailants seized 42-year-old director Renjith Pillai while he was inspecting crops on the farm.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the attack and stated that the officer lost his life while trying to repel the assailants.

“One police officer tragically died while repelling the attack, injuring some of the assailants, and the Chinese expatriate principal was abducted,” Olayinka said.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, has ordered an immediate manhunt for the kidnappers, deploying the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other tactical teams to the scene.

A bush-combing operation and full investigation are now underway to rescue the victim and arrest the perpetrators.
