Kano Assembly Denies Plot to Impeach Deputy Governor

The Kano State House of Assembly has officially refuted circulating reports alleging a plot to impeach the state’s Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdulsalam-Gwarzo.

In a statement on Saturday, the assembly dismissed the claims as “baseless and misleading,” asserting that no such move is underway.

Kamaluddeen Shawai, spokesperson for the Speaker of the House, addressed journalists in Kano, stating that the reports were designed to stir unnecessary tension. He clarified that there is no motion or initiative within the legislature aimed at removing the deputy governor.

“These reports are false and should be disregarded by the public. The Deputy Governor continues to serve with full support from the House,” Shawai said.

He urged media outlets and the public to verify information before spreading it, highlighting that accurate reporting is crucial for maintaining political stability in the state.

Shawai added that the assembly remains dedicated to its core duties of legislation and oversight, rather than engaging in speculative political activities.

“Our priority is good governance and serving the people of Kano, not circulating rumours,” he emphasized.
