UNIABUJA Seeks Public Help to Find Missing 100-Level Student

The University of Abuja has called on the public to assist in locating a 100-level student of the institution who has been reported missing.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the university identified the student as Sadiya Usman, a student in the Department of Accounting. The statement was signed by the Acting Director of Information and University Relations, Dr. Habib Yakoob.

According to the institution, Usman was last seen on Tuesday, February 18, 2026, after leaving her residence at Kontagora Estate in Gwagwalada, Abuja. She was said to be heading to the university’s main campus to sit for her GST 111 Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination.

“She was reported missing after she left her residence at Kontagora Estate, Gwagwalada, Abuja, at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 18 February 2026. She has not been seen since,” the statement read.

The university further disclosed that a report from her guardian indicated that all attempts to reach her have failed, as her phone line is currently unreachable and her whereabouts remain unknown.

Management noted that it has activated internal safety protocols and is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to locate her promptly and safely

Expressing concern over her safety, the university appealed to the public for any timely information that could assist in her safe return.

“The university community is deeply concerned about her safety,” the statement added.

Members of the public who may have seen the student or have information regarding her whereabouts are urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the university’s Directorate of Safety.

The University of Abuja reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and security of all its students and assured that updates would be provided as the situation develops.
