Ogun Police Probe Death of Corp Member after alleged Abortion

Victoria Ariyo, a female corps member serving in Abeokuta south LGA of Ogun state, has died after allegedly terminating a pregnancy.

She was said to have died on Tuesday from complications that arose after undergoing a suspected abortion procedure.

Her remains have reportedly been interred at Kobape cemetery along the Kobape-Sagamu road in the state’s capital. According to Daily Trust, Abass Olalekan, the NYSC local government inspector (LGI) for Abeokuta south, has been arrested by the police in connection with the corps member’s death.

When contacted, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the police spokesperson in the state, confirmed Ariyo’s death and said investigations were ongoing.

He, however, declined comments on Olalekan’s arrest and alleged involvement.
