Jubilation as Tinubu Takes Early Lead in APC Presidential Primary
Supporters of President Bola Tinubu gathered in large numbers at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday to celebrate his early lead in the party’s presidential primary election.
The crowd, comprising members of the PBAT Door-2-Door Movement and loyalists of former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo (popularly known as Tompolo), filled the venue with songs, chants, and solidarity displays.
Speaking at the event, the group’s National Coordinator, Sunday Asuku, said Tompolo had sent them to rejoice with the President over the early results coming in from various wards across the country.
“Our grand patron, Tompolo, has sent us to felicitate with President Bola Tinubu over his early lead, and by the grace of God, his victory in the ongoing presidential primaries,” Asuku said.
He described the turnout as organic and reaffirmed the group’s full backing for Tinubu’s re-election bid, urging Nigerians to allow the President more time to consolidate on his reforms.
“The decadence of so many decades cannot be fixed in just four years. President Tinubu should be given more time to consolidate on the foundation he has built. Whoever is not in support of him is an enemy of Nigeria,” Asuku added.
Early results from several states showed Tinubu securing overwhelming victories over his sole challenger, Chief Stanley Osifo. In Tinubu’s ward in Ikoyi, Lagos, he polled 4,996 votes out of 5,163 registered party members, while Osifo recorded zero votes.
Similar landslide outcomes were reported in Mafa Ward (Borno), Kabo Ward (Kano), Argungu Local Government Area (Kebbi), and Oyigbo Ward 3 (Rivers), where Osifo again failed to secure a single vote in most of the announced wards.
