Don’t plead for criminals’ release, it’s shameful – Deputy Commissioner warns Nigerians
The Deputy Commissioner of Operations in Delta State, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has cautioned Nigerians against mounting pressure on the police and other security agencies to release or pardon suspected criminals.
In a post on his official X handle on Monday, Adejobi, a former spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, described such interventions as shameful and warned that anyone who lobbies for a criminal to evade justice is equally a criminal.
He stated that he maintains his stance and principles when it comes to fighting crime, adding that people should not bother contacting him to plead for any offender, as it will not work.
Adejobi called on both security agencies and citizens to stand firm and remain resolute in curbing crimes and vices in society, insisting there are no two ways about it.
His warning comes amid recent demands by terrorists for the release of detained fighters in exchange for the freedom of a kidnapped retired Major General and some school pupils in Oyo State.
