Tinubu’s Achievements Will Silence Critics in 2027- Matawalle

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office will ultimately silence his detractors and secure his re-election in the 2027 presidential poll.

Speaking on Tuesday at a Contact and Sensitisation Retreat organised by the North-West Tinubu/Matawalle Peace and Unity Initiatives in Sokoto, the minister accused political opponents of spreading falsehoods and propaganda to undermine the President’s achievements.

Matawalle insisted that such attacks would not diminish the impact of Tinubu’s policies and reforms, stating that the President’s commitment to national development would speak for itself at the polls.

The minister highlighted the administration’s strong leadership in confronting insecurity, implementing economic reforms, and supporting critical sectors of the economy. He noted that the government has strengthened the capacity of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, leading to significant gains in the fight against insecurity, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

He acknowledged that President Tinubu inherited serious security and governance challenges but has demonstrated courage and determination in addressing them, with continued investment in security, infrastructure, education, and human capital development.

Matawalle also criticised what he described as deliberate efforts by some political actors to mislead Nigerians and discredit the government, expressing disappointment that some individuals had chosen to spread misinformation despite the administration’s efforts to promote unity, peace, and progress.

The minister urged young people not to allow themselves to be used for political propaganda capable of causing division and instability, calling on them to reject falsehood and focus on initiatives promoting national development and social harmony.

Earlier, the Lead Convener of the North-West Tinubu/Matawalle Peace and Unity Initiatives, Yusuf Abubakar, stated that the retreat was convened to deepen grassroots support for Tinubu and showcase the administration’s achievements through public education on policies and reforms.

The retreat drew 58 leaders of community groups, associations, and ambassadors from Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna states.
