Real Madrid Confirm Signing of Ibrahima Konaté on Four-Year Contract

Real Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of French defender Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool on a four-year contract.

The 27-year-old center-back joins the Spanish giants on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Anfield. According to an official statement from the club, the agreement will keep Konaté at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 30, 2030.

Konaté moved to Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021, going on to make 183 appearances for the English side. During his five-year tenure on Merseyside, he secured several major honors, including the FA Cup in 2022 and the Premier League title in 2025.

The defender, who is currently away on international duty with France, arrives as part of a major summer overhaul for Real Madrid. Under the guidance of newly appointed manager José Mourinho, the club has already secured high-profile signings, including Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella and Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva. Reports also indicate the club is monitoring Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries.

The squad restructuring follows a rare two-year silverware drought for the club. Real Madrid recently extended the contract of German center-back Antonio Rüdiger until 2027, helping to stabilize a defensive line that recently lost veterans Dani Carvajal and David Alaba to free agency.
