Lagos Seals Over 20 Properties in Ikeja for Physical Planning Violations

The Lagos State Government has sealed more than 20 properties in the Ikeja Local Government Area following non-compliance with the state’s physical planning regulations.

The enforcement exercise was executed by the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) and led by Olayinka Wasiu, Permanent Secretary of the Office of Physical Planning, alongside LASPPPA General Manager Kehinde Osinaike and other senior directors.

Key details regarding the enforcement action include:

Violations Targeted: Landed properties, uncompleted structures, and buildings with unauthorized structural extensions that violate state planning laws.

Prior Notice: Officials confirmed that contravention notices had previously been served to affected property owners, detailing the required steps to regularize their developments prior to physical enforcement.

Safety & Compliance Goals: The intervention serves as a proactive measure to prevent structural failures, curb illegal developments, and maintain orderly urban growth across the state.

State officials reiterated that strict adherence to building permits and planning approvals remains mandatory for all developers. Ministry representatives confirmed that LASPPPA will continue monitoring and enforcement operations across various local government areas to uphold structural safety standards throughout Lagos.
