Air Peace Strengthens African Network with Lagos–Douala–Libreville Flight

Air Peace has expanded its African route network with the launch of scheduled flights from Lagos to Douala and Libreville, further strengthening its presence across West and Central Africa.

The airline said the inaugural Lagos–Douala–Libreville flight departed on Sunday, August 2, a day after it launched services on the Lagos–Conakry–Bamako route. It described the latest expansion as part of its strategy to improve intra-African connectivity and position Lagos as a major regional aviation hub.

According to the airline, the new service connects Nigeria’s commercial capital with Cameroon and Gabon while opening more opportunities for business, trade, tourism, cultural exchange and closer ties across the region.

Speaking on behalf of Air Peace at the welcome ceremony in Douala, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, said the launch represents another milestone in its expansion across Africa.

“The Lagos–Douala–Libreville connection further strengthens Air Peace’s growing African network and provides passengers with greater access to destinations across West and Central Africa,” he said.

Ngala also reaffirmed the airline’s long-term vision for regional integration.

“We are committed to building a robust and interconnected African aviation network, enabling passengers to travel seamlessly from destinations across the airline’s domestic network through Lagos to regional and international destinations, including London and the Caribbean,” he said.

The Air Peace delegation was received at Douala International Airport by officials of the Nigerian Consulate in Cameroon, the Douala Airport Authority, the Civil Aviation Authority of Cameroon and representatives of the Nigerian community.

Representing the Nigerian Ambassador to Cameroon, Foreign Affairs Officer Suliat A. Paramole praised the airline for strengthening air links between both countries.

She said the new route “would enhance mobility and further support the longstanding relationship between both countries.”

President General of the Nigerian Community in Cameroon’s Littoral Region, Lovinus Ezeh, described the service as “a significant development” and said it would make travel between Nigeria and Cameroon more convenient while supporting stronger economic and social ties.

Representing the Douala Airport Authority, Lt. Col. Adolphe Nyamke Bongkwaha welcomed the airline and said the new connection would strengthen Douala’s position as a regional gateway while increasing movement between Cameroon and Nigeria.

The inaugural flight later continued to Libreville, where it was received by officials of Gabon’s civil aviation authority, Libreville Airport and representatives of the Nigerian community.

Director of Flight Operations at Gabon’s Agence Nationale de l’Aviation Civile, Georges Renaud Maxime Moubamou Malekou, said the service “would contribute to strengthening air connectivity and fostering greater interaction between Gabon, Nigeria and the wider region.”

Managing Director of Libreville Airport, Igor Simard, described the route as “a positive development” that would expand travel options for passengers and strengthen Libreville’s links with key destinations across Africa.

Representing the President of the Nigerian Community in Gabon, Mike Iwu said the direct connection would provide greater convenience for Nigerians and other travellers while strengthening ties with their home country.

Air Peace said the launch of the Lagos–Douala–Libreville service, coming a day after the commencement of the Lagos–Conakry–Bamako route, demonstrates its commitment to expanding its footprint across Africa and creating stronger links for trade, tourism, investment and economic development.
