Police Foil Kidnap Plot Targeting Delta Pastor, Retired Principal, Arrest Suspect

Police operatives attached to the “A” Division in Ughelli, Delta State, have successfully foiled an alleged plot to kidnap a local pastor and retired school principal, arresting a suspect in connection with the crime.

According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, security personnel acted on credible intelligence on July 31, 2026, which revealed that 26-year-old Jeremiah Kwane was attempting to recruit members for a kidnapping syndicate. The suspect was apprehended at his workplace in Ughelli, where a subsequent search led to the recovery of a single-barrel gun and two live cartridges.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, has reiterated the command’s commitment to tracking down violent criminals and urged residents to continue providing timely information to boost security across the state.
