FCT Minister Wike Vows to Protect Genuine Investors, Cracks Down on Land Speculators

Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared Abuja fully open for business, assuring local and foreign investors of government protection while issuing a stern warning against land speculators and regulatory violations.

Speaking at the opening of the Abuja Business and Investment Expo 3.0, Wike emphasized that the administration’s ongoing infrastructure expansion and land administration reforms are firmly positioning the nation’s capital as a premier investment destination in Africa. He noted that investors must demonstrate technical capacity, financial strength, and integrity, while strictly respecting the Abuja Master Plan and environmental guidelines.

The minister highlighted that the FCT secured the fourth position nationally in the 2025 Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council’s Subnational Ease of Doing Business assessment with a 61 percent performance score, aiming to push the territory even higher.

During the event, Securities and Exchange Commission Director-General Emomotimi Agama proposed innovative financing tools like an FCT Infrastructure Bond Programme and Real Estate Investment Trusts to support capital projects. Furthermore, Abuja Investments Company Limited Group Managing Director Ambassador Maureen Tamuno stated that the expo has successfully transitioned into a dynamic platform driving concrete investment partnerships.
