Ondo Partners NGO to Enhance Reproductive Health Supply Chains, Prevent Shortages

The Ondo State Government has partnered with the Lifespring Development Foundation (LSDF) to optimize the management of sexual and reproductive health commodities, aiming to eliminate stockouts and prevent product expiration across healthcare facilities.

The collaboration, which forms part of a Federal Government Sexual and Reproductive Health Project, is initially focusing on three local government areas: Ondo West, Ese Odo, and Ifedore.

To support the initiative, the state Ministry of Health’s Logistics Management Unit, alongside LSDF, organized a two-day capacity-building workshop on commodity forecasting and quantification for local healthcare personnel.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Toyin Adeyalo-Ogundare, Deputy Director of Family Health and State Reproductive Health Coordinator, stated that the training enables health workers to analyze consumption data effectively to predict future supply needs accurately.

“This will help us forecast what we need using historical data so that we can, as much as possible, avoid understocking and expiry of healthcare commodities,” Adeyalo-Ogundare noted, adding that tracking usage patterns also aids in making informed policy decisions regarding family planning and maternal care.

LSDF State Team Lead Mercy Okeyode explained that the workshop complements ongoing health system investments by ensuring essential maternal, child, and adolescent health supplies are consistently available at the facility level, ultimately improving healthcare delivery and maternal outcomes across the state.
