WAFCON 2026: Morocco, South Africa Face Off in High-Stakes Quarter-Final Clash

Host nation Morocco and defending champions South Africa will collide in a high-stakes TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 quarter-final at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, with a semi-final spot and direct qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil on the line.

The fixture serves as a direct rematch of the 2022 WAFCON final, where South Africa secured a 2–1 victory over Morocco to claim their maiden continental title.

Morocco enters the knockout stage in impressive defensive form, advancing from Group A without conceding a single goal across 271 minutes of play. Goalkeeper Khadija Er-Rmichi recorded three consecutive clean sheets during the group phase, helping the host country reach its third consecutive WAFCON quarter-final under head coach Jorge Vilda.
