Joint Security Operation Neutralizes Kidnapper, Apprehends Three Following Enugu Church Attack

Joint security operations in Enugu State have led to the arrest of three suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate linked to the August 2 attack on St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Inoyi-Affa, Udi Local Government Area.

The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated raid involving the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Enugu State Forest Guard. One suspect was killed in an exchange of gunfire with security operatives during the operation, while four AK-47 rifles and ammunition were recovered from the gang’s hideout.

Inspecting the suspects at the state DSS headquarters on behalf of Governor Peter Mbah, Secretary to the State Government Prof. Chidiebere Onyia confirmed that two abducted victims Seminarian Lawrence Igbo and Emmanuel Onwudi have regained their freedom and positively identified the detained suspects as their abductors.

Onyia reiterated the state government’s zero-tolerance policy on violent crime, emphasizing that security agencies will track down and prosecute all perpetrators and collaborators attempting to establish criminal operations within Enugu State.
