Adeleke Outlines Four-Year Achievements Ahead of Osun Governorship Poll, Raises Concerns Over Security Neutrality

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has highlighted his administration’s key accomplishments over the past four years while detailing his vision for a second term ahead of the upcoming Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15.

Speaking at a town hall meeting in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke revealed that his administration successfully cleared over ₦80 billion in inherited pension liabilities and paid more than two-thirds of outstanding half-salary arrears owed to state public servants.

Emphasizing his focus on worker welfare, Adeleke noted that fulfilling these financial obligations demonstrated the necessary political will to address long-standing state debt. He added that his administration’s achievements span infrastructure and social development, citing the construction of 350 kilometers of roads, three flyover bridges, the rehabilitation of over 200 primary healthcare centers and 150 schools, the establishment of the University of Ilesa, and the deployment of agricultural and cooperative intervention funds.

Addressing his political trajectory, the governor clarified his move from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, under whose platform he is seeking re-election, attributing the change to internal disputes within his former party.

During the session, Adeleke expressed strong concerns regarding the conduct and neutrality of security operatives ahead of the election. He alleged that members of his party have faced arbitrary arrests and intimidation, calling on President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police to ensure security agencies remain impartial throughout the electoral process.

Despite these security concerns, Governor Adeleke expressed confidence in the democratic process and urged the electorate to remain peaceful, reiterating his commitment to a free, fair, and transparent election.
