LASU to Graduate Over 20,000 as 494 Students Bag First Class Degrees

The Lagos State University (LASU) is set to graduate 20,604 students across various academic programmes during its upcoming 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremonies.

Out of the graduating class, 494 students earned First Class honours across the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, disclosed that 262 students achieved First Class honours in the 2024/2025 session, while 232 attained the feat in the 2025/2026 session.

“Of the 7,621 first-degree graduates in the 2024/2025 session, Ayilara Lawal Olawale of the Department of Project Management emerged as the overall best graduating student with a CGPA of 4.96,” Prof. Olatunji-Bello announced. “For the 2025/2026 session, Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide from the Department of Aerospace Engineering recorded the highest CGPA of 4.97.”

The total figure includes 16,274 first-degree graduands and 3,383 postgraduate students spanning Postgraduate Diplomas, Academic and Professional Master’s degrees, and Doctorates.

As part of the ceremonies, the university Senate approved the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on notable figures, including industrialist Alhaji Aliko Dangote, corporate executive Mrs. Bola Adesola, and business leader Mr. Akin Kekere-Ekun.
