Adeleke Wins 19 LGAs, Oyebamiji Takes 11 in Osun Governorship Election

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has secured victory in 19 of the 30 Local Government Areas in Saturday’s governorship election, according to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

His closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, won 11 LGAs as collation of results continued on Sunday.

The election saw significant voter turnout across the state, with results showing a clear lead for the incumbent governor in most local government areas.

In the early results, Adeleke performed strongly in Ede South with 26,188 votes against APC’s 6,219, and in Ede North where he secured 35,427 votes compared to 10,283 for Oyebamiji.

Other notable victories for Adeleke included Osogbo LGA where he polled 36,480 votes against Oyebamiji’s 30,474, and Ife Central where he secured 21,171 votes against 15,913 for the APC candidate.

The APC, however, recorded significant wins in some areas, including Irewole LGA where Oyebamiji garnered 29,972 votes against Adeleke’s 10,934, and Ilesa East LGA where the APC candidate won with 16,208 votes against Adeleke’s 12,280.

Results from Olorunda LGA gave Oyebamiji 24,671 votes against Adeleke’s 23,514, while in Isokan LGA, the APC candidate secured 14,063 votes against Adeleke’s 13,765.

The final announcement from INEC is still pending as officials complete the collation of results from all 30 local government areas.

Voting was generally peaceful across the state, with residents turning out in large numbers to cast their ballots despite initial concerns about possible disruptions.

INEC officials have confirmed that all results have been received from the local government areas and the final declaration is expected shortly.
