NABTEB releases 2026 NBC, NTC results as 81.24% secure five credits

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has announced the release of the results of its 2026 June/July National Business Certificate and National Technical Certificate examinations.

The board said 79,503 candidates, representing 81.24 per cent of the 97,863 candidates whose results were graded, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr Aminu Mohammed, disclosed this on Wednesday in Benin during a press briefing.

According to him, the 2026 performance marks a significant improvement from the 68.18 per cent recorded in the 2025 examination, when 61,104 candidates achieved five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

Mohammed attributed the improvement to the combined efforts of students, teachers, schools, parents and other stakeholders within the education sector.

He further disclosed that 89,580 candidates, equivalent to 91.53 per cent of those graded, obtained five credits and above, irrespective of whether English Language and Mathematics were included.

The figure also represents an increase from the 83.28 per cent recorded under the same category in 2025.

The NABTEB chief executive added that 24,128 candidates, representing 24.65 per cent of those graded, were certified as craftsmen.

He said 100,069 candidates registered for the 2026 examinations, while 97,867 eventually sat for the papers, giving an attendance rate of 97.80 per cent.

Mohammed explained that the results were released 52 days after the conclusion of the final examination, describing the timeline as part of the board’s efforts to improve efficiency and ensure timely delivery of examination services.

On examination malpractice, the registrar revealed that 847 candidates were implicated in 1,554 reported cases during the 2026 examinations.

He said the affected candidates represented 1.55 per cent of those who sat for the examinations, adding that the figure was lower than that recorded in the previous year.

Mohammed attributed the decline to measures introduced by the board to strengthen examination monitoring and tackle malpractice.

He advised candidates to use only NABTEB’s authorised result-checking platform when accessing their results.

The registrar also cautioned candidates and the public against fraudsters who claim they can alter, upgrade or manipulate examination results.

He stressed that no individual has the authority to change a result legitimately awarded by NABTEB.
