NSCDC Shuts Down ‘Illegal’ Juice Factory in Badagry, Arrest Two

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has raided an alleged “illegal” juice production facility in Badagry, arresting two women in connection with the operation.

The raid was carried out on Monday 21st September 2026 at Aradagun, where officers reportedly uncovered a facility involved in the production and distribution of Barkas Juice.

The Civil Defence Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, SC Oluwaseun Abolurin, said the names of the two suspects were being withheld while investigations continue. He said the factory allegedly supplied the product to markets across Lagos, with already-packaged products found at the facility, some reportedly loaded into container vehicles for distribution.

Abolurin also alleged that juveniles between the ages of 15 and 16 were involved in activities at the facility. Items reportedly recovered included sugar, water, adhesives, dyes and colourants, which the Corps said were used in the production process.

However, one of the arrested women gave a different account, telling newsmen that the factory was established by her grandmother and had operated for nearly 20 years before shutting down due to challenges. She said the business was working towards renewing its registration with NAFDAC and only produced about three or four times a year based on customer orders.

She added that she owns a shop at Oke Arin Market in Lagos, while her major customer is a woman in Benin City.

The NSCDC said investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction.
