1 Dead, 7 Injured In Balogun Market Fire

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed that one body was recovered and seven persons were injured in the fire outbreak at a five-storey building in Balogun market, Lagos state.

Ibrahim Farinloye, Lagos territorial coordinator of NEMA, confirmed the casualties on Tuesday.

The fire, which broke out on Tuesday morning, affected the “topmost floor” of the building where traders sell shoes.

The Lagos State Fire & Rescue Service said its operatives responded to the emergency and brought the fire under control.

Farinloye added that four persons were arrested for stealing valuables from shops.

The incident was the second market fire in the state in the last few weeks.
