UNICEF Says Over 600,000 Children Not Immunized In Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has revealed that over 600,000 children were not immunized against childhood killer diseases in three northern states, Jigawa, Katsina and Kano.
UNICEF Chief of the Field Office, Kano State, Rahama Farah made this known in Kano during a media briefing on the UNICEF State of the World Children’s (SOWC) 2023: Immunization and Zero Dose situation in Kano Field Office states.
According to him, Kano state has the highest number of unimmunized children with over 300,000 children, representing 55 per cent.
He said Immunization is the basic right of a child, adding that UNICEF is much concerned about the health of children in the country, adding that children died globally because they don’t have access to disease prevention.
“This is a major concern for us in Nigeria and Kano in particular,” he said.
