Police Say Criminals Now Disguising As Passengers To Snatch Vehicles In Nasarawa

The Nasarawa police command says criminals are now disguising themselves as passengers to snatch vehicles from motorists in the state.

In a statement on Monday, Ramhan Nansel, police spokesperson in the state, said the criminals usually snatch vehicles at Lafia-Abuja/Akwanga and Keffi highways.

“The Nasarawa state police command wishes to inform members of the public that it has uncovered a technique criminals now use to dispossess unsuspecting owners of their vehicles,” the statement reads.

“The criminals usually disguise as passengers to stop vehicles plying Lafia-Abuja/Akwanga –Keffi routes and thereafter, dispossess them of the same vehicle.”

Nansel said Maiyaki Baba, commissioner of police in the state, warned road users to avoid picking up passengers from the roadside.

Baba urged members of the public to go to the approved motor parks to board commercial vehicles.

The police commissioner asked residents to be security conscious, adding that the command is working to ensure that the criminals are arrested.
