Abducted Prospective Corps Members: IGP Deploys DIG Operations To Imo

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has deployed Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Shehu Umar Nadada, to Imo State to lead search-and-rescue operation for prospective NYSC members abducted along Owerri-Onitsha Road, Umunoha.

Nadada, who arrived state with two Commissioners of Police, has conducted on-the-spot assessment of situation and reviewed operational strategies to strengthen coordinated response for rescue of 20 abducted victims.

Assessment was conducted alongside Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso; Commissioner of Police, Federal Operations, CP Akpan Anifiok; Commissioner of Police in charge of Police Mobile Force; as well as other Service Commanders and members of Management Team of Imo State Police Command.

Search-and-rescue operation has been further intensified, with additional deployments of tactical teams and operational assets across identified areas, backed by intelligence-led tracking of suspects. Police are working in close coordination with sister security agencies to ensure safe rescue of abducted persons and apprehension of perpetrators.

DIG Nadada assured public that Nigeria Police Force is committed to securing safe rescue of 20 abducted persons and will sustain operation until mission is successfully concluded.

He urged public and media to remain calm and vigilant and encouraged anyone with credible information that could assist operation to promptly contact Police or nearest security formation.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, said further updates will be issued as operation progresses.
