Abia North Stakeholders Endorse Governor Otti for Second Term

A coalition of professionals, business leaders, and community stakeholders from the Abia North Senatorial District has officially endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term, citing his administration’s significant achievements in infrastructure and governance.
The endorsement was announced on Saturday following an inaugural meeting held in Abiriba, Ohafia Local Government Area. The group, which emphasized its non-partisan and non-political nature, stated that its members are focused solely on ensuring the continuity of the development standards established by the current administration.
Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa, a former Secretary to the State Government who acted as the group’s spokesperson, stated that the initiative was driven by a collective desire to preserve the template of good governance currently being implemented in the state. He noted that the endorsement was unanimous, with participants from all five local government areas in the senatorial district—Bende, Ohafia, Arochukwu, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi—lauding the governor’s progress in sectors such as healthcare, education, security, and infrastructure.
“Abia has never had it so good,” Prof. Mkpa remarked, asserting that the governor’s record of tangible projects serves as a sufficient campaign platform.
The group pledged to mobilize voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and support candidates aligned with the governor’s party for both state and national legislative positions in the 2027 general elections. They also expressed a long-term goal of ensuring that the governance improvements achieved under the current leadership are sustained well beyond 2031 by supporting credible successors.
Several attendees shared personal experiences regarding the impact of the administration’s policies. Local business owner Robert Onyeani highlighted the expansion of road networks in Abia North, which he noted has directly stimulated private investment and enhanced local commerce.
Host of the meeting, Chief Ebueme Ezikpe, clarified that the coalition deliberately excluded career politicians and those seeking government appointments to maintain the group’s focus on objective advocacy.
He added that for many residents, the shift in governance style has been a welcome departure from the challenges experienced in previous decades.
