Actor Olaiya Igwe Reacts to Viral Video About Battling ‘Strange’ Illness

Nigerian actor Ebun Oloyede, better known as Olaiya Igwe, has dismissed reports alleging that he’s battling an undisclosed illness.
The rumours began after his colleague Kayode ‘Paragon’ Akindina filmed a video showing Olaiya Igwe being helped into a house by a group of people.
Other actors, including Malvins Tokunbo, were also in the video and watched as Olaiya was brought inside.
After the clip was shared, people on social media became concerned that the actor might be sick.
To address the rumours, Olaiya posted a video saying he is healthy. He explained that the original clip was actually filmed on a movie set.
The filmmaker said the role appeared believable because he showed his versatility as an actor, and he appreciated his fans’ concern.
“May God not allow us to be sick. Anyone who does this kind of work should be able to play any role. It is true that I have seen some things on the internet where some people think their father is sick. I did exactly what the director asked me to do,” he said.
“As a good actor, you must perform your role perfectly, so that they can know that you tried. Whoever likes can call you a fantastic actor; another person may criticise you. You cannot satisfy everybody.
“And for those who are genuinely concerned, please relax. There’s no problem. I was performing my role; as you know, I am a versatile actor. We were acting in a film for Mr Latin. I acted there as I returned from the hospital. It showed that my children were taking care of me because I was still recovering.
“When I entered, I had to play the role as if the sickness was heavy on me. As a good actor, if they ask me to play a role where people are crying, I can do it.
“I do not think there is a sin in me playing such a role that would warrant evil thoughts against me.
“Some people called me to check the comment section, and I see mixed comments. Some people were wishing me evil, while others were showing genuine concern. I want to sincerely appreciate those who showed their concern over me. I pray that evil will not come your way.”
