Adamawa Police Arrest Suspect in Teen Acid Attack
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man in connection with an acid attack on a 17-year-old boy in the Shagari area of Yola.
The victim, Walid Kassim Mohammed, reported that he was sprayed with a corrosive substance while on his way to a mosque on Wednesday. He immediately sought help at the nearby Shagari Police Division.
Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the arrest and stated that the victim has been taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspect, identified as Idris Hamza, is now in protective custody.
Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case for further investigation.
This incident comes months after a similar acid attack was reported in Edo State, where a young woman was assaulted by her boyfriend.
