In a statement released on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that the victim’s father, Umar Ibrahim, reported the incident at the Numan Police Station on March 2, 2026.
According to the report, the child, identified as Ramadan, left home to play on March 1 but failed to return. The caller claimed to have kidnapped the child and demanded a ransom of N800,000.
Following a prompt investigation by operatives from the Numan Division, two suspects Sadiq Ali, 19, and Shitu Umar, 23 both residents of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area, were apprehended.
The statement noted that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime. The case has since been transferred to the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation.
