Adamawa Police Move Against Unregistered, Covered Number Plates

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a targeted enforcement campaign to impound all vehicles operating without official registration number plates or utilizing concealed and altered identification details. The security operation follows a directive from the Inspector-General of Police to eliminate unidentified vehicles, which authorities state pose a significant threat to state security and crime prevention.

To guarantee rigorous compliance, Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, has established a specialized task force drawn from multiple tactical departments. The enforcement team is headed directly by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Abubakar Haruna, who is mandated to oversee mobile checkpoints and stop-and-search operations across the state’s transport networks.

Police officials expressed serious concern over the rising trend of improperly identified automobiles on public roads, noting that criminal networks routinely exploit unregistered vehicles to execute illegal activities and evade tracking.

Under the new enforcement mandate, any vehicle found with tampered, covered, or missing registration metrics will be immediately impounded and subjected to statutory legal procedures. State police leadership warned that the exercise will be carried out without exception, urging all motorists to update their vehicle credentials to avoid legal penalties.
