ADC Denies Internal Crisis in Kebbi, Says Party United for 2027
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has dismissed reports suggesting internal divisions within its ranks, describing the claims as baseless and reaffirming its unity and readiness for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Musa, addressed recent reports alleging that the party was embroiled in a crisis and on the verge of collapse. He dismissed the claims as misleading and accused certain politicians of attempting to weaken opposition parties in the state.
“We wish to inform the people of Kebbi State and all Nigerians that the report is baseless and contains inaccurate information. It is an attempt by some politicians and interested parties to mislead the public and weaken the influence of opposition parties,” Musa said.
He acknowledged that efforts had been made by some individuals to create the impression of discord within the party but stressed that the ADC remained intact and cohesive.
“It is widely known that, at times, a few individuals are used to create confusion or fabricate disagreements within opposition parties. However, we assure the public that the ADC remains strong and united, and there is no division within the party,” he added.
Musa explained that the ongoing activities within the state chapter were part of a broader restructuring exercise aimed at strengthening the party’s presence at the local government and ward levels ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Regarding what is happening in Kebbi State, the process currently underway is simply a restructuring of the party and strengthening its structure at the local government and ward levels in preparation for the 2027 general elections,” he stated.
The spokesman also noted that a court had affirmed the legitimacy of the party’s national leadership, which continues to operate in line with the law and the ADC constitution.
Musa further announced that the party had commenced online membership registration, urging members and supporters to take part. He emphasized that only registered members with valid membership cards would be recognized as full members of the party.
“Only registration and possession of a membership card will confirm an individual as a full member of the ADC. Therefore, anyone without a membership card will not be recognised as a full member of the party,” he said.
He added that the exercise was being conducted with the approval of the state leadership under Chairman Safiyanu Bala.
The ADC spokesman called on residents of the state to disregard rumours suggesting the party had split into factions, reaffirming the party’s commitment to promoting transparent and people-oriented politics.
