ADC Dissolves Kano Executive Committee, Appoints Caretaker Leadership
The national leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially dissolved its Kano State executive committee, replacing it with a newly constituted caretaker committee tasked with overseeing the party’s affairs in the state.
The announcement was made on Monday by the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North-West), Najaatu Mohammed, during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat in Kano.
Mohammed stated that the decision was a constitutional necessity aimed at ensuring stability and preventing a leadership vacuum. She emphasized that the move was consistent with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act, asserting that the national leadership had a duty to preserve the unity and structural integrity of the party.
“When circumstances create a leadership vacuum within any political organisation, responsible leadership cannot fold its arms and watch uncertainty consume the institution,” Mohammed noted. “A political party is built on order, discipline, and continuity.”
Addressing concerns regarding the move, the deputy national chairman clarified that the dissolution should not be viewed as a negative reflection on the loyalty or contributions of the party’s existing members in Kano. She reaffirmed that the membership base remains the party’s greatest asset and called on stakeholders to support the transition in good faith.
The newly formed caretaker committee will be led by Alhaji Umar Bala as chairman, with Isma’il Musa serving as secretary. The party leadership expressed confidence that the transitional arrangement would restore order and strengthen the ADC’s position in the state moving forward.
