ADC kicks Against Kingibe’s Suspension by FCT Ward

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from the purported suspension of Ireti Kingibe, the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), by the leadership of her ward.

The ADC ward in Wuse reportedly suspended the senator on Wednesday over alleged anti-party activities, insubordination, and violation of party rules.

Reports indicate that the suspension was announced by Kanayo Chukwu, the ward chairman, during a stakeholders’ meeting attended by party executives and members.

According to Arise Television, the senator was accused of withholding funds meant for the party’s campaigns during the recent area council elections in the FCT.

Samuel Chukwudi Nwigbo, the publicity secretary of the ward, reportedly sent an open letter to members of the party’s national working committee, questioning how “a serious party would attempt to go into a major election with a candidate who refused to openly campaign for her party in a serious election held within her constituency”.

However, reacting to the development, the national leadership of the ADC said it was unaware of any suspension of the senator. In a statement issued by Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC national publicity secretary, the party urged the public and the media to disregard the report, describing it as false and misleading.

“The African Democratic Congress is unaware of any suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe, the distinguished senator representing the Federal Capital Territory,” the statement read
