Adeleke Campaign Raises Alarm Over Alleged INEC Plot to Declare Osun Election Inconclusive

The Imole Campaign Council of Senator Ademola Adeleke has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the ongoing Osun State governorship election inconclusive, describing the move as a desperate attempt to frustrate its candidate’s imminent victory.

In an official statement released on Saturday, August 15, 2026, Rep. Bamidele Salam, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee for the campaign, claimed that the scheme is being orchestrated alongside key leaders and governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the statement, the plan represents a last-ditch effort by opposition forces to hijack the election and subvert the clear mandate of Osun State voters. The campaign emphasized that any attempt to declare the poll inconclusive undermines democratic principles and disregards the votes already cast across the state.

Expressing deep concern over the development, the campaign called on the INEC National Chairman to honor his public commitment to delivering a free, fair, and credible election. The council also reminded INEC, the APC, and security officials of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive emphasizing electoral integrity, noting that the Osun poll serves as a critical test ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In addition to warnings about electoral manipulation, the campaign highlighted security threats at collation centers. Citing incidents where thugs allegedly snatched ballot boxes at select polling units, the campaign urged the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the DSS, and the Commandant-General of the NSCDC to immediately bolster security presence statewide to protect collation officers and election materials.

Finally, the council called on local and international election observers to closely monitor the collation process and ensure that the final results accurately reflect the will of the people of Osun State.
