Adeleke Declares Work-Free Day in Osun Ahead of Governorship Election
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Friday, August 14, 2026, as a work-free day for public service workers across the state in preparation for the upcoming governorship election on Saturday.
The directive was contained in an official circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina. According to the government, the holiday is intended to give civil servants sufficient time to travel to their respective voting locations and exercise their civic duty.
The declaration covers all categories of public sector workers, with the exception of personnel performing essential and emergency services.
In a pre-election message to the workforce, Governor Adeleke called on civil servants, artisans, and residents to turn out in large numbers for the poll. He urged voters to protect their votes and sustain the developmental progress achieved by his administration over the past three and a half years.
