AGN reacts to Stanley Amandi’s arrest ‘over involvement in plot to overthrow Tinubu’s Govt
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has responded to a report that its member Stanley Amandi was arrested over his alleged role in the plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government.
The veteran actor was arrested in September 2025 over his alleged involvement in the failed plot.
According to Investigations, the actor had been recruited by the suspected coup plotters to act as a propagandist. Security sources say this was part of their preparations for a violent takeover of the government.
Government sources briefed on the case said the plotters allegedly planned to assassinate top officials, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.
On Monday, the Defence Headquarters confirmed that investigations had uncovered a plan to illegally remove the Tinubu administration. They added that the officers involved would face military judicial panels while the civilians involved will be tried in civil courts.
Speaking with reporters, Emeka Rollas, the AGN national president, confirmed the guild is aware of the situation regarding Amandi and stated that an official statement would be issued soon.
