Amala Day 2026: Ibadan Descendants in Ekiti Gather to Celebrate Culture, Promote Savings

Members of the Ibadan Elites Ekiti State, IBEES, have been advised to cultivate more savings habits in order to overcome financial challenges.

IBEES Patron, Dr. Taofeek Yekini who gave the advice during this year’s Amala Day in Ado-Ekiti, said loans from cooperative societies attract little interest compared to bank loans, hence the need to join.

In a remark, the President of Ibadan Descendants Union, the Elderly arm of Ibadan Indigenes in Ekiti State, Mr. AbdulJeleel Alaka enjoined IBEES members to always visit their Ibadan hometown and contribute to its development.

Mr. Alaka also charged them to live peacefully with their host communities in Ekiti State.

Earlier, the IBEES President, Mr. Adetunji Adejumo thanked God for the growth and progress of members, chargind them to continue to engage in activities that would bring honour to Ibadan land.

Similarly, the pioneer President of IBEES, Dr. Adebola Agbaje charged members to be more committed to the growth of the association by devoting their time and finance to its activities .

Highlight of the 2026 Amala Day included eating of Amala with abula soup, questions and answers on Ibadan cultural heritage, dancing as well as distribution of gifts.
