Amotekun Makes 243 Arrests In Two Years in Ekiti

243 suspects said to have committed various offences have been arrested by operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) codenamed “Amotekun” over its first two years of operations in Ekiti State.
This was disclosed by Retired Brig.-Gen. Joe Komolafe, the Commandant of WNSC in Ekiti in an interview in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.
Komolafe said the offences for which the suspects were arrested ranged from alleged kidnapping, robbery, burglary, cultism, rape, human trafficking, drug related, farmers/herders clashes among others.
He said the concerted efforts of his men and government support had helped reduced criminal activities in the state.
He charged well-meaning Ekiti sons and daughters, home and in the Diaspora to invest more in the security network of the state, adding that “security is everybody’s business,”.
While appreciating some individuals and communities, that have reached out to the organisation, he also appealed for more financial assistance to ease the burden of security on government.
