Anambra CP Hosts Arewa Leaders, Seeks Support On Security

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, on Monday, August 24, 2026, hosted leaders of the 21 Local Government Areas of the Arewa Community in the state to strengthen all-inclusive policing.*

The engagement, held at the Command Headquarters in Awka, focused on security concerns, community policing and practical measures to enhance the safety of lives and property.

CP Nnanna said effective policing cannot be achieved by the Police alone and requires the collective support of community leaders, residents and other stakeholders.

He emphasized the need for timely and credible information sharing, mutual trust and community support in preventing and tackling crime. He urged Arewa leaders to sensitize their members on the importance of supporting lawful security operations and providing useful information to the Police.

The Commissioner also called for peaceful relations among communities and closer collaboration with the Police to address emerging security issues before they escalate.

In response, the Chairman of Arewa Community in Anambra State and National Deputy Director-General of MACBAN, Gidado Siddiki Sarki, commended the Commissioner and the Command for their openness and commitment to community policing.

He pledged the continued support and cooperation of the Arewa Community with the Police and other security agencies to maintain peace, protect lives and property, and promote harmonious coexistence in the state.

CP Nnanna assured the delegation of the Command’s open-door policy and its commitment to partnering with all communities irrespective of ethnic, religious or social backgrounds.

He noted that inclusive engagement, mutual trust, timely intelligence and collective responsibility remain central to his policing strategy.
